As seen here with Galaxy Blue ears, the oil is designed to be dropped onto the ceramic body of the Be@rbrick, which will then act as a diffuser. This might cause discolouration on the surface, but this is by design, if you want to keep it relatively clean use the oil in an inconspicuous area.
